Nokia’s first Windows 8 tablet is now a reality, as we saw the Lumia 2520 go official at last month’s Nokia World event. We’re already getting knee-deep in rumors about where Nokia’s tablet plans could be going from here, but before we get ahead of ourselves, there’s still the matter of the 2520 actually hitting the market. Last week, we heard some rumors about the US launch situation, and checked out a leak that seemed to reveal plans for the start of AT&T’s sales. Today the carrier speaks up about the situation, laying out just how you can get your hands on Nokia’s tablet.
Confirming the date in that leak, AT&T says that availability of the 2520 kicks off a week from today, November 22. We also get confirmation that AT&T will only have the 2520 available in black.
Pricing for the AT&T 2520 will be about $400 on contract, which seems in line with what we’ve seen leaked separately for Verizon (though still feels expensive for a tablet supposed to sell off-contract for $500 – that’s one weak subsidy). AT&T does offer one benefit, though: if you grab a 2520 alongside a Lumia smartphone – a 925, 1020, or new 1520 – AT&T will drop the price on your tablet (still on-contract) down to around $200. If you were thinking about getting a new Lumia anyway, that actually doesn’t sound like an awful deal.
