Apple’s announcements of their new iPad line-up came with the surprise that the first-generation iPad mini was going to remain onboard for another year. It’s not really a bad tablet, but one that’s simply not competitive when compared to devices like the new Nexus 7. Still, this is the most affordable iPad to get right now, and if you’re interested in getting some new color on it, it seems that it’s out early.
The new iPad Air and the changes to the iPad mini were supposed to be launched until November 1st, and yet the iPad mini in the new Space Grey is reportedly already reaching retail stores silently. If you’re looking for one, your best bet is to find it in an Apple Store, as the rumors point them to only be found there, though not in every Apple Store has them yet. A quick phone call will help you avoid any drama in going there and wasting your time.
For many people, the iPad mini is enough, and I do personally prefer the space grey option after using an iPhone 5S with this color. For others, the $299 starting point doesn’t make sense for what you get, no matter what colors are included. If you’re interested in the iPad mini with Retina Display, you’ll have to wait until some time within November.
