Leaks continue to vacillate on iPad mini 2 Touch ID scanner – latest says “no”

Oh, what the heck, Apple? While we had been very much looking forward to a shiny new iPad mini 2 this year, with all the latest bells and whistles like a Retina display and that same Touch ID fingerprint scanner from the iPhone 5S, recent days have seen some new leaks attempting to dash our hopes. First we see evidence suggesting that there really wouldn’t be any resolution increase, and now we have a new pic seemingly revealing an old-style, non-Touch-ID home button for the iPad mini 2.

“Wait, wait. Didn’t we already see the iPad mini 2, complete with that scanner?” It sure seemed like we did, back last month, but who knows? Apple could have been playing around with multiple hardware configurations, some of these pics may be old or reflecting earlier stages of development – heck, maybe one or more are intentionally meant to deceive us. All we know is that they’ve been all over the place.

For what it’s worth, the iPad 5’s Touch ID scanner is still looking confirmed, and it’s just the iPad mini 2’s that’s up in the air. Four days to go until we get our answers; anyone taking bets?
