How are we doing on October launch rumors so far? HTC showed up a day earlier than expected with the One Max, we’re already drifting into afternoon and there’s no sign of a Nexus 5 launch today, and next week’s Nokia World event – well, that’s been solidly confirmed for a while now. The one other biggie that’s been hanging over our heads has been Apple, with word that it could finally be ready to introduce its new iPad tablets next week. We’ve been talking about our expectations that if that rumor really was accurate, we’d be seeing invitations go out about a week in advance – which would be today. Right on schedule, Apple’s come through, sending out invitations today for an October 22 event.
Apple’s event will get underway at 1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific. Our attention will be locked on the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, but Apple’s also expected to have a whole slew of new Mac hardware, if that’s your bag.
Sometimes we get little teasers in these Apple invites; is there any such clue here? Well, we suppose that “a lot to cover” language could imply something along the lines of a new Smart Cover? Then again, it might just be a reference to a fall-season event, with all those falling leaves we see forming a bit of leaf cover. In any case, there’s just one week to go before we get to see it all for ourselves.
