LG is trying to put an end to traditional, squared, and rectangular batteries, by announcing its readiness to mass produce different-shaped power packs, in curved, stepped — an integral type of a battery in which two batteries are added on top of each other in the shape of “step design.” –, and cable shapes. The company is already mass producing stepped and curved batteries; furthermore, the stepped battery is used, according to the press release, to power the G2.
As far as the curved battery is concerned, it will power devices with curved screen or flexible designs, especially phones, watches, and glasses. LG recently bragged about its flexible screen and now the wording says that these new curved batteries “will power the next smart phone line up of LG Electronics” — meaning we might see not one, but more devices with a curved shape.
