Apple clearly has a new iPad and iPad mini waiting in the wings. It’s coming up on a year since the last iterations of those tablets were launched, and all summer we’ve been fielding leak after leak of this new hardware. All that’s remained is for Apple to finally pull back the curtain and make this pair official. We’ve been expecting that to happen this fall – and maybe even this month, in particular – but a hard date has been difficult to come by. We heard October 15 mentioned, but lacked confidence in the news, and failed to find any confirmation for it. Now, another slightly later date has come to our attention, with claims that Apple’s planning its launch event for October 22.
That would be a very fitting date, as the first iPad mini and the iPad 4 launched on October 23 last year, giving us nearly a full year between generations. No location’s been attached to this date just yet, though we’re likely looking at somewhere in California again – just not the exact same venue used last year.
In addition to the tablets, Apple will probably also have new Mac hardware and software to announce. With just two weeks to go until this proposed date, we’d sure expect to see formal invitations start going out soon – at least, if this new date is finally accurate.
