Nokia’s own Glance Screen — the setting which allows you to display the time and battery information on your Lumia device in several different modes, introduced with the Lumia 925, available to all with the Amber update — will apparently be further tweaked in the upcoming Bittersweet shimmer software refresh.
One of the main complaints with Glance Screen was (and still is) the fact that it will not display notifications; hence, you’ll need to unlock your phone anyways, in case you want to check on anything else but battery and the time.
The Bittersweet shimmer package, which will most definitely roll out with GDR3 to supported Windows Phones, will have an improved Glance Screen, at least that’s what the images above and below hint, from Microsoft Norway (though the source has been taken down). On that particular Lumia 925 we can see several notifications including e-mail and text messages. The functionality should have been there from the beginning, but, better late than never…
