We knew we were supposed to expect a refresh thanks to recent leaks and today is the day ASUS announced the PadFone Infinity refresh. Just as the leaks implied, the new version rocks a faster processor, the quad-core Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.2GHz. A microSD card slot has also been added as well as a noise cancellation secondary microphone.
While the camera is still the same 13-megapixel shooter, ASUS has implemented a software feature called PixelMaster which combines more pixels into a single one — something Nokia pioneered with the original PureView, the 808, and they called if oversampling. Everything else appears to be the same: five-inch 1080p screen, and the 32GB flavor; however, the 64GB variant has been yanked and replaced by a 16GB storage option (a somewhat acceptable move now with the addition of the microSD card slot).
