Sony leaks continue: full details on Cyber-shot QX100 and QX10 lens-style cameras
Sony is not doing a great job keeping a lid on its IFA announcements for tomorrow. We just saw the full press release leak for the Xperia Z1, and now the very same has happened for those lens camera accessories we were also expecting to see Sony announce, complete with a bunch of hardware specs, pics, and video.
So, what are we actually going to call these guys? Sure Shot was thrown around as a possibility, but when we didn’t see it in that Z1 leak, we wondered what was up. Here, Sony describes the pair as “lens-style cameras” which will be part of its Cyber-shot brand, known simply by model number as the QX100 and QX10.
The details here mostly seem to nicely align with earlier leaks, but all this extra info brings some good news with it, as well – like how it does confirm that the cameras will use Sony’s Memory Stick Micro cards, but adds the important detail that microSD will also be supported.
The QX100 has a 20.2-megapixel one-inch sensor and a 3.6-times optical zoom, while the QX10 drops down to an 18.2-megapixel 1/2.3-inch sensor, but get a 10-times zoom. At least, that’s what the release and the specs sheets says – the video below claims it’s the QX100 with the 10x zoom.
Pricing is nearly what we heard rumored, though a few bucks off: the QX100 will sell for $500, while the QX10 will go for $250. Both Android and iOS devices are supported, with the cameras interacting with phones through Sony’s PlayMemories app. We’ve even got an early product video to help further introduce us to these accessories:
