When it comes to promoting your smartphone, you can spend all day extolling its virtues, educating the public as to its new features, and making the handset seem as attractive as possible. But for all you can say about how great your own phone is on its own merits, sometimes the most powerful messages come when you start challenging the competition. We’ve seen plenty of attack ads over the years, and while there have been some really great videos produced, some of our favorites have been when billboard ads start going up against one another – remember when LG elbowed-in on Samsung’s Times Square venue for the Galaxy S 4 launch with its own Optimus G ad? We’ve got more along those lines today, this time with Nokia going up against Samsung.
The Galaxy S 4 Zoom may have left us a little wanting, but that’s not stopping Samsung from attempting to promote the phone all it can. As it attempts to play up the phone’s 10x optical zoom, Nokia’s got another idea, and has commissioned its own billboard truck to respond to Samsung’s ad.
Nokia’s truck-based ad takes the Galaxy S 4 Zoom to task for being so darned bulky, playing up the Lumia 1020′s ability to take high-res shots of even distant subjects without the needed for a big optical zoom. It’s been spotted in multiple locations, making sure to expose plenty of potential customers to Nokia’s assessment of the GS4 Zoom’s shortcomings.
