Whenever Apple and Samsung are mentioned in the same sentence, one can expect heated discussions, debates, and reactions from fans of both companies. The two phone makers are fierce competitors and apparently they’re stealing each others’ users like champs. But just how many do the manage to win over from the other?
According to a recent CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners) study published by Fortune, “Apple took three times as many from Samsung (33%) as Samsung took from Apple (11%)“. As far as Apple is concerned, 42% of customers between July 2012 and June 2013 were upgrading from another iPhone, while 43% of Samsung’s customers “had previously owned an Android phone, but not necessarily one made by Samsung”. On that exact note, the study shows that Samsung managed to convert more customers from HTC, Motorola, and Nokia, while the Cupertino-based company Apple attracted more from Blackberry, in addition to the 33% from Samsung above.
