iPad 5 shows off front panel in latest parts leak

When it comes to spottings of the in-development iPad 5, we’ve had plenty of looks at cases and pieces of the tablet’s body. Back in April, we even got to see what sure looked like the front panel to the device, though lacking any display. Today, we return to the same subject, looking at another front panel, this time in black, and with what appears to be the touch screen hardware in place.

You’ll note the flex cables for the digitizer sticking out from the edges here, though now split into two instead of a single lead. The overall design matches what we’ve seen before – basically a tablet the size of the iPad but with the bezel layout of last year’s iPad mini, making the tablet narrower overall.

Reportedly, the screen size is sill exactly the same as the iPad 4, and the presence of a part number in these shots sure does seem to match what we expect from Apple components. All added up, and this sure could be a legitimate leak. It surfaced on the site of a parts retailer, which appears to be getting all its ducks in a row prior to the tablet’s actual launch.
