Those who opted for Google Play Editions of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4 did that with a specific reason in mind: timely updates, aside from the pure Android experience. As Google released the new Nexus 7 alongside Android 4.3, these Google Play Edition phones are now being updated to the latest iteration of the platform.
If the Android 4.3 OTA update notification hasn’t yet landed on your device, you can start abusing your “check for updates” button. 185MB (HTC One, and enables the IR blaster) and 150MB (Samsung Galaxy S 4) is the weight of the updates, according to reports from those who already received them. As a reminder, these ROMs are being developed and pushed out by the OEMs themselves.
Let us know if you’ve received yours on your Google Play Edition Android phone.
