LG continues to act in a very weird manner as it works its way towards the launch of the G2. We’ve already heard the company confirm the phone’s Snapdragon 800 SoC, and then just a couple weeks ago it went and announced the G2′s name. Is there anything it’s actually saving for the phone’s August 7 launch event? We now continue with this pattern of inexplicably early announcements, with LG revealing its series of QuickWindow cases for the G2.
While the dimensions of the cut-out are different, it’s hard to see this at first glance as much more than a rip-off of Samsung’s S View covers. Certainly, the functionality is largely the same – the window lets you interact with screen without fully waking the phone. Actually, LG’s system could even be an improvement, activated by just a finger swipe.
LG says all seven QuickWindow cases will be available when the G2 hits retail; no word on pricing. Of course, we’re still not sure just when the G2 will go up for sale itself – even if it launches in a week, we could still have a decent wait before the phone hits stores.
