The Moto X is so close, we can practically taste it. Sure, there have been recent indications that at least some carriers wouldn’t see the phone until the tail end of August, but we’ve been hoping to get the full story on the Android a lot sooner. For the past few days, we’ve been looking to next week’s Google event as a possible venue for Moto X news, but this afternoon we got something much more direct: an invitation to an August 1 Moto X event.

Now, that doesn’t discount the possibility that Google could have its own Moto X news next week, but we can say with certainty that come August 1, we’ll have the whole picture. We’ll be on the scene in New York City to try and get some hands-on time with one of these new Motorola Androids, and should finally be able to let you know if all this hype was really justified.

Be sure and look for our Moto X event coverage in just under two weeks.
