Android 4.3 spotted on Nexus 4

With that Google event scheduled for next week, and following all the leaks we’ve seen so far, there’s a decent chance that Android 4.3 is about to go official. While we already had that 4.3 ROM ripped from a Google Play edition Galaxy S 4 to play with, it may soon be time for Nexus 4 owners to have a chance to check out the latest Android themselves, with the discovery of another of the handsets running Android 4.3.

But haven’t we already seen 4.3 on a Nexus 4? Sure, in pictures, but this time there’s access to the software. As the story goes, the owner supposedly bought the handset from a Google employee on Craigslist a couple weeks back, and only just now realized that the phone reports that it’s running Android 4.3. Now aware of what he had, he made a backup of his handset’s software and shared it with the development community.

You can pull down that backup yourself if you’re curious, or just wait a little as it’s inevitably reformatted into a flashable ROM. Of course, with expectations for a formal 4.3 release so high, you might be just as well waiting until next week to see what Google’s got to share.
