We’ve already seen retailers begin accepting pre-orders for full-priced, unlocked sales of the Nokia Lumia 1020, but we’re guessing that the lion’s share of Windows Phone fans in the US who have been anxiously awaiting the day when 41-megapixel imaging would finally come to their platform will be buying their 1020s on-contract with AT&T. If you find yourself in that crowd, today marks your first chance to get your name on one of the earliest 1020 handsets to arrive, with AT&T kicking off pre-sales of the smartphone.
As you’ve no doubt heard by now, the Lumia 1020 comes with the highest on-contract Windows Phone sticker price to date, going for about $300 even with subsidies. If you’d rather stay off-contract, AT&T will hook you up with the 1020 for $660.
AT&T also has the 1020’s camera grip, and it’s actually available at a small discount, going for $60 rather than the official $80 retail price. Of course, Microsoft will be giving out the grip for free to customers who order through it, but the company has yet to open its own pre-orders.
Are you going to be jumping at the chance to get one of these long-awaited handsets? Will you maybe wait for the price to come down a little first? Or, despite all the great imaging performance, are you still not sold on Windows Phone in general?
