Sprint users have been waiting the better part of forever for their carrier to get around to offering some Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Several months back, we at least learned that Sprint would indeed be adding a couple WP8 models to its lineup, and just last month we finally got confirmation of both, with the announcements of the HTC 8XT and the Samsung ATIV S Neo. Even after waiting this long, though, that news arrived without any hard dates for when we could actually expect sales of either phone to begin. Today we get half of the answers we’ve been looking for, learning that sales of the 8XT will get started one week from Friday, on July 19.
We already knew what to expect as to a price for the phone, and that’s reiterated here: the 8XT will sell for just about $100, on-contract, and after factoring-in a $50 mail-in rebate.
For that, you’ll get a phone with a 4.3-inch WVGA display, a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of flash storage with microSD expansion. This is also the first time we’ve seen BoomSound stereo front-facing speakers on a Windows Phone model, so the 8XT might be a good option to consider for WP audiophiles.
We’re still waiting for a launch date for the ATIV S Neo.
