Apple signs deal with TSMC for mobile chips

There were a lot of rumors and speculation about this but apparently it happened. A recent Wall Street Journal report confirms that Apple signs deal with TSMC for mobile chips; the report quotes a TSMC executive and apparently the deal refers to only “some” chips.

TSMC officials unveiled that the road was a bumpy one as it was difficult to satisfy Apple’s strict speed and power standards. However, starting 2014, TSMC will reportedly make some chips, but despite the deal, competitor Samsung will remain the main processor supplier for Apple’s smart mobile devices throughout next year.
