There were no new Windows 8 tablets unveiled at the Microsoft Build conference this year, despite rumors that possible Surface slate refreshes might appear. While there was no announcement, there were some hints at the possible future of Windows 8 tablets.
The screenshot above shows a list of anticipated Windows 8.1 tablet screen sizes and resolutions. While this doesn’t necessarily mean we will see such Surface slates in the future, it might mean that Microsoft is expecting OEMs to produce such slates. There’s a 7-inch form factor with a 1920×1200 resolution mentioned alongside a 7.5-inch screen with 1440×1080 resolution. The Surface Pro has a screen size of 10.6-inches and the list above shows a resolution for that of 2560×1440 (opposed to the current Full HD resolution), numbers which were also present though in the Windows 8 developer tools.
