Samsung spotted prepping Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition Android 4.3 release

When we saw that new camera app arrive with the Google Play edition GS4 and HTC One yesterday, it made us immediately curious about Android 4.3. That’s because the first time we saw that app was on a Nexus 4 appearing to run 4.3; would Google ever get around to releasing the new build, or would we just see features like this divorced from 4.3 and implemented on their own like with these GPe models? It looks like 4.3 is very much still in the works, and a new leak shows Samsung getting it ready for its new GPe GS4.
We realize the above screenshot is a bit jumbled, like someone tried opening a build.prop file in a text editor that doesn’t support its character set, but a few key bits are clear. The Android version is spelled-out as 4.3, but what about this makes us think we’re talking about the GPe GS4?
That product name “jgedlteue” may seem like more gibberish, but yesterday’s dump of a GPe GS4 ROM confirms that’s indeed the model’s correct designation. Think about it: Project J, Google Edition, LTE, US, English?
So, keep the faith, Android 4.3 hopeful: it may drop next week, or next month, but it’s getting here sooner or later.
