Possible evidence of Windows Phone 8.1 spotted

We just got done telling you about the upcoming arrival of Outlook RT when Microsoft finally distributes its Windows 8.1 update – that’s great for tablet users, but what about Windows Phone? What do future updates have in store for Microsoft’s smartphone users? Some new evidence continues to point to the development of Windows Phone 8.1.

A developer just posted some analytics he compiled for his Archiver app to Reddit, and beyond all the various flavors of Windows Phone 8 that he saw using his app, there was also one guy running 8.10.12076.0.

Curious, we wanted to see if there were additional signs of such 8.10.x builds, and it turns out they’ve been hiding in plain sight for a while now – last month’s AdDuplex figures revealed several other versions with similar build numbers, occupying the 8.10.12072 to 8.10.12079 range.

We wouldn’t read too much into that “8.10” business – Microsoft has been clear that its next Windows update would take the 8.1 name, and Windows Phone should follow a similar course.
