HTC has a great May; revenue growth continues
It’s tough to think about the HTC One without considering the impact it has on the company’s financial outlook. After all, it’s been a while since HTC’s had a really high-profile flagship like this, and the way its sales have been going, it could really use a hit to start bringing in the cash. About a month ago, we took a look at some HTC sales figures, and while they showed promise, we wanted to see if the trend they suggested would end up continuing. Now we have the latest data from the company, and the news looks pretty darn good.
As you might remember, moving from March into April, HTC saw monthly sales grow by a healthy 26%. But since the One didn’t see wide retail availability until April itself, we weren’t looking at a full picture of the handset’s arrival. With these new May figures, the story starts becoming much more clear.
Building off that earlier momentum, HTC’s May sales showed a tremendous 48% growth over April – that’s very nearly sales of one billion dollars over the course of a single month. The One certainly doesn’t account for all of that revenue, but you had better believe that its arrival is primarily responsible for this new wave of interest in HTC.
Unfortunately, even with this recent growth HTC still isn’t generating the income it did just one year ago, but it’s also very nearly caught back up – a few more months of sales like these, and it might just reverse this slump entirely.
