HTC One news sure has been active lately; we just saw the phone confirmed as the second not-quite-Nexus model announced as a “Google Edition” handset running stock Android, and some separate rumors looked to the possibility of some new color options for the One. Today, however, we’re revisiting one of the One’s longer-standing rumors, concerning just when Verizon might get around to picking the HTC flagship up for its own network. Just last week, some new evidence seemed to point at the carrier preparing for the One, and now today it’s gone ahead and made things official, tweeting the announcement that “the HTC One will be available on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network later this summer.”
That’s great to hear confirmed, but we still wish we could narrow-down the release window a little. After all, despite Verizon’s “later this summer” language, we haven’t even dipped our toe in the season just yet, and we’re still the better part of three weeks away until it gets started. Even then, we could have a couple more months of waiting before the One shows its face on Verizon.
Considering the wave of new hardware due this fall (which we’re sure to see a ton of at the IFA in Berlin), Verizon would be wise to get cracking with One sales sooner, rather than later.
