A few days back we first heard the name T6, supposedly the internal designation by which HTC was developing a new Android phablet. While some evidence turned up that sure made the T6 seem real, and suggested that it could be coming to a number of different carriers, we didn’t really have all that much to go on. Some earlier rumors of an HTC phablet – back before we had even heard this codename – talked about a device with a display in the five-to-six-inch range. Since we already had the Droid DNA at the five-inch point, we figured the T6 might measure closer to six inches. Sure enough, today a number of possible specs for the phablet have leaked, and they claim the handset will have a 5.9-inch screen.
That display would be 1080p, just like the HTC One, and the other specs are just as high-end. Actually, with a Snapdragon 800 mentioned here as the T6’s SoC, it’s even sounds a smidge more powerful.
Additional specs include 2GB of RAM, a 3300mAh battery, and 16GB of internal storage. The camera sounds pretty nice, marrying an UltraPixel sensor with optical stabilization, and there should be a 2.1-megapixel front-facer with a wide-angle lens like on the 8X. The T6 may arrive running Key Lime Pie which presents a new mystery: after all, we’ve been seeing signs that Android 4.3 will remain Jelly Bean.
Details aren’t yet clear, but it sounds like the T6 could get some sort of stylus, and there’s also word that HTC may give the device a fingerprint reader. As for accessories, look for a “power jacket” that serves as a case while augmenting the phone with another 1250mAh of battery capacity.
