Here’s an interesting piece of information: Next Nexus not made by LG. The report quotes LG Mobile Europe’s vice president, Kim Won. According to the official, the Nexus 5 is not necessary for LG’s profit and success. Of course, there might always be a language barrier here, and we’re waiting for possible future clarifications.
“The Nexus 4 was a great success despite the production problems for us and Google. However we do not need such a marketing success again”, said the LG VP. Kim Won also opined on a future possible LG “Google Edition” phone, a la Samsung Galaxy S 4. He said that such a device doesn’t bring or represent any value to the company. LG is relying heavily on their user experience offering, and skin. Despite everything, the relationship between LG and Google is very good. However, this will not bring a Nexus 5 and/or Google Edition device fruit.
Update: As we anticipated, a debunk, explanation, or just a “blame it on the language barrier” information has been revealed. LG came on record to say that the statement was misinterpreted and “what Mr. Won Kim said is that we are not currently working on a Nexus 5, which is true. But that doesn’t mean we would turn down the opportunity.”
Either way, as of the moment of this post, LG is not working on a Nexus 5, that’s the key takeaway.
