Are we really going to see HTC pull a Samsung and release a stock Android Google Edition of its One? That’s sure what the rumor mill would like us to believe, and as we wait for the arrival of firm evidence, or learning that HTC has changed its official stance in regards to such a model, a new theory has arisen, suggesting that not only will this version of the One definitely arrive, but that it could do so as a seriously limited edition.
Pocket-lint claims to have heard from sources that HTC will limit production of any Google Edition One to around one percent of the total number of One handsets it’s currently manufactured. That could result in something like just 50,000 of these models ever arriving.
We realize that interest in such hardware is limited, and they’ll be sought after by real smartphone enthusiasts rather than your average hoi polloi. Still, that’s a tiny number of units, and if this information is at all accurate, it just might end up kinda tough to get your hands on one of these models.
