Samsung Tizen Redwood smartphone caught on camera

Yesterday, we started getting to the bottom of rumors surrounding Samsung’s first Tizen hardware, taking a look at the User Agent Profile for the Samsung GT-I8805. That was a model number we heard before, when a previous rumor claimed the GT-I8805 was under development as codename Redwood, and there was also a model GT-I8800, which Samsung was calling Melius. Since then we’ve heard that Melius is actually an Android, but what of that model number, GT-I8800? It turns back up again today, only this time it’s also taken on that Redwood name.

That’s very interesting; could both the GT-I8800 and GT-I8805 be essentially the same model? Maybe one has something like LTE and the other doesn’t, like the GT-I9500 and GT-I9505 for the Galaxy S 4? Or, perhaps that earlier info tying codenames to model numbers just totally missed the mark, and the GT-I8800 was Redwood all along.

Whatever the case may be, it looks like the GT-I8800 is very much real, and in the series of screenshots arriving today we get a quick look at some of this Tizen 2.1 software, including how the phone will employ voice command technology.
