We knew Jolla was preparing something for today, and even if the press event happens later, the first Sailfish OS smartphone has been unleashed. It will set you back 399€ (about $515), and the Finnish company is trying to get them out by the end of this year.
As far as specs are concerned, we’re looking at a “Jolla original design with ample 4.5-inch Estrade display”, a dual-core processor of unknown make, model, and speed, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card slot), eight-megapixel main shooter, 4G compatibility (though frequencies and countries are not disclosed), and Sailfish OS with Android app compliancy being specifically called out. A removable battery (of undisclosed capacity) is also specifically called out.
As far as “the other half” is concerned, we’re looking at a replaceable back that snaps on the phone to change its color appearance.
We’ll update as soon as we find out more information during the day.
