Over the last few days, you may have noticed a number of new pics and video surfacing of the white edition of the Nexus 4. We’ve brought you coverage of these kind of spottings in the past, but no matter how many times they pop up, they never seem to lead anywhere. Is this latest volley a sign that the phone’s actually about to drop? At least one rumor claims that’s what’s going on, and that the white Nexus 4 could introduce the Android 4.3 that was a no-show at Google I/O.
According to unnamed sources, Android and Me reports that Google intends to start selling the white Nexus 4 through the Play Store on June 10. Perhaps more interesting, it would arrive running 4.3, just weeks after Google decline to premiere the release at I/O.
We’re just not sure how to take that claim. Evidence sure made it seem like 4.3 was in testing, but if Google really did intend to launch it in June, we would have expected to get word of it by now, with Google telling us to look forward to it in a few weeks. Instead, it almost seemed like the Google Services overhaul was a calculated move to introduce new Android functionality specifically without bumping up the build.
As a result, it’s hard to say how much faith we should put in these rumors. The white Nexus is a lot more plausible, but a new Android, this soon after I/O? It’s just a little odd.
