Some new features are on their way to Nokia Lumia smartphones, or so a few recent rumors and leaks have been suggesting. We’ve heard about things like a flip-to-silence mode, and looked at a video demo apparently revealing a tap-to-wake option. Beyond that, other bonuses like enhanced display settings have been mentioned. When’s all this getting here, though? If we’re to believe one carrier, this new firmware could be arriving this July.
On Twitter, the carrier 3′s Italian arm responded to a user question about new firmware for the 920 by claiming that the tentative date for the release of Nokia’s PR 2.0 update is set for July. PR 2.0 would apparently be the release encompassing all the features we just mentioned, and now this July date is raising speculation that the update could arrive simultaneously with Microsoft’s next big WP8 update, its GDR2 release.
Then again, not all carriers see such releases at the same time, and even 3 admits that the date still isn’t locked-down, so this info might be slightly off. Still, it’s a good starting point, and gives Nokia fans something to look forward to this summer.
