Most of the next full-sized iPad rumors seem to agree on the fact that the 9.7-incher will take a lot of design cues from Apple’s iPad mini, as it should. If the two images we’re seeing today (below and above) turn out to be the real deal than this will become a reality.
We’re allegedly seeing the front panel of a (possibly next) iPad and the side bezels appear to me narrower than what we’ve seen over the years on previous models. The iPad mini has a narrower bezel and a similar design for the iPad 5 (or whatever the name will be) will allow Apple to reduce the physical dimensions of the slate while keeping the screen size at 9.7-inches. iOS 6 can detect and cancel accidental touches so the bezel itself is not a problem.
However, whether these images are legit or not, and whether we’ll see this exact panel being used on the next iPad or not, is yet unknown.
