After the success of the Nokia Lumia 920 for AT&T, the web has been packed with rumors of a counterpart to be released on the Verizon network and dubbed the Nokia Lumia 928. Some rumored it being made of aluminum as part of Nokia’s project Catwalk, but as the leaked images that we found today show, it seems that aluminum and Lumia won’t marry just yet.
The leaked photos show a device made of polycarbonate, and in an interesting twist, it looks nothing like the Nokia Lumia 920 aesthetically. They are both reported to have identical specs, but this Lumia 928 packs a design that resembles more the Lumia 720 that we saw recently at MWC 2013. Another interesting addition is that this camera does mention the PureView branding front and center, so it’s easy to confirm that Optical Image Stabilization will be included in this device.
So far, we have mixed feelings about this device. Even if the Lumia 920 had one of the heaviest designs of 2012, there’s no denying that it made it stand-out from the crowd, and not his 928 resembles competing devices like the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Regardless, we’ll keep digging for some more leaks regarding the Catwalk project, and we should expect this 928 to become official very soon as well.
