When it comes to apps on Windows Phone, users of the platform have come to live with two unpleasant realities: they have access to fewer apps than other major platforms, and they often end up paying more for the same apps than users on iOS or Android might. Microsoft’s got a new promotion to help ease the pain of expensive apps, at least, announcing yesterday the arrival of some new weekly promotional offers.
Microsoft tweeted its announcement of the forthcoming deals, alerting users to be on the lookout “for the red stripe in the Windows Phone Store.” Indeed, today you’ll notice a red border around apps selected to participate in this promotion. The first couple are the game King Oddball, selling for 60% off, and exercise companion runtastic PRO, which is now 80% off.
Next week, these deals will be over, and Microsoft will choose some new apps to promote. Just remember to look for the red border around their icons in order to spot them.
