Nokia Solar Charging Rumors Spring Up Again

Is Nokia finally about to embrace solar charging for its smartphones? We know the company’s been toying with the idea for a while, and last month we heard rumors that it might have signed-on to use some new tech that might make solar charging finally feasible. While we didn’t see such a thing demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress, we’re once again returning to the rumor, after seeing a post from Nokia that might just be a tease in support of it.

Nokia posted the above image to its Facebook page with the caption, “sun, sun, sun, here we come!”

Now, that could be nothing more than an allusion to the handset’s yellow color, but it’s also got a lot of people talking about the company’s solar charging ambitions. After all, we’ve seen plenty of yellow Lumias before, so there’s reason to suspect that Nokia might have more to promote here than just the phone’s hue alone.

For the moment, this is just more speculation, but Nokia’s flirtation with solar technologies could be long from over.
