There’s still plenty we don’t know about Samsung’s Galaxy Note III, but the sparse rumors that have arrived to date have been pretty split over the issue of the phone’s display size. Now that the Galaxy S IV has moved up into the five-inch range, it only follows that the Note would grow in order to more cleanly differentiate itself from the GS4, but just how big will it be? So far, we’ve heard both 5.9 inches and 6.3 inches tossed around as potential sizes. While the former has been the number put forth most recently, today the latter is sounding a little more likely, thanks to the announcement of one of the GS4′s accessories.
Samsung didn’t want the Galaxy S IV to launch alone, and made sure to have a whole bunch of accessories ready. One of them, the Samsung Game Pad, is designed to clamp onto a smartphone and offer users some console-style hardware game controls. While it will easily fit the GS4, Samsung mentions that the Game Pad supports devices with screens ranging from 4 to 6.3 inches.
That’s an oddly specific upper end for that limit, and the fact that it precisely matches one of the numbers rumored for the Note III’s display is hard to ignore. For now, the evidence is simply circumstantial, but we’ve got to say that we’re now taking that 6.3-inch rumor a whole lot more seriously.
