Getting tired of all this vague talk about Windows Phone updates that are months and months away, without even so much of a rumored list of expected changes? Craving something a little more definite? You’d be wise to follow Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore on Twitter, as lately he’s been talking a lot about what’s just around the corner for Windows Phone.
First up, remember how we saw a Microsoft employee confirm that the company was aware of all the issues users are having with WP7.8 and live tiles, but that there wasn’t any kind of assurance that it would actually develop and release a fix? Well worry not, because Belfiore tweets clear as day, “we are working on a fix now.” Maybe no ETA, sure, but at least we can confirm now that it’s in the pipeline. He also confirms a fix is in the works for problems with how the system reports “other” storage.
We also get word of forthcoming changes to the People Hub, which should be offering integration with Skype. Considering Microsoft owns Skype, it’s almost surprising how it’s seemed like an afterthought with all things Windows Phone, but perhaps that’s finally going to change. Belfiore describes this integration as hinging on the release of a new version of Skype, but he can’t yet say just when that will be.
