We’ve seen Caterpillar-branded ruggedized Androids before, talking about models like the CAT B10 around this time last year. Caterpillar brought some new hardware to the MWC in Barcelona, and we swung by its booth to take a look.
This time we’re looking at the CAT B15, a thick, rubberized, chunk of an Android that’s waterproof, dustproof, and just built to take a lot of abuse. There’s Gorilla Glass up front to keep the screen looking nice, and unlike a lot of ruggedized smartphones, this one is actually running some modern software, in the form of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
These kind of phones aren’t for everyone, but if you need a phone that is going to take a pounding and keep right on running, it might be something to think about.
