Rumors have time and time again looked to March for when Samsung could announce the Galaxy S IV, bypassing the crowds of the Mobile World Congress and insuring that it has our full attention when it premieres its next flagship. So far, we’ve heard a handful of potential dates for the GS4 launch event, first looking at March 22, and now more recently, March 15. The latest rumor to arrive suggests that Samsung might be pushing things up just a tad bit more, with an event taking place in New York City on Thursday, March 14.
This news comes from Eldar Murtazin, who after initially tweeting a vague hint that a March 14 event would cause HTC to miss out on all the HTC One sales it’s no doubt hoping for, later confirmed in follow-up tweets both his belief that this is the Galaxy S IV launch event, and that NYC shall provide the venue.
As far as anyone knows, the phone itself wouldn’t hit carriers until later, in April. We also haven’t heard anymore about launch plans for the other “Project J” devices, and while rumors place the Galaxy S IV Mini’s arrival sometime in May, it’s still not clear if it will share the stage at this March launch event.
