Yesterday’s discovery of support docs for an unreleased Google Now widget may have spoiled the surprise, and Google’s abrupt removal of those pages had us thinking that a release still might be a way’s off, but today Google has followed-up with an update to its Google Search app, delivering that very same Google Now widget, amongst a number of other improvements.
That widget lets you place your most important cards right on your home screen or lock screen, just as we learned yesterday, giving you access to that info at a glance.
Google also adds Zillow real estate listings to Google Now’s library of data sources, letting you pull up info on listed properties as you check them out in person.
There are also a few tweaks to the service’s support for movies, now providing ratings info – not PG or R, mind you, which it already did, but connecting you to Rotten Tomatoes to see what critics think about the film. Additionally, Google Now will be able to alert you when you need to leave to get to the theater if you’ve already bought your tickets through Fandango, as well as pull up your virtual copy of them when it detects you’ve finally arrived.
