What does ASUS have in store for us after the Padfone? The Fonepad, or at least the codename for the rumored ME371MG which will likely make a presence at the MWC show floor in about two weeks. What is so special about this tablet? It is power by an Intel processor.
The image above, if legit, seems to hint at an aluminum body, pretty much like Apple’s iPad and iPad mini. Speculation regarding the internals hints at a seven-inch 1280 x 800 pixel resolution screen, Intel Atom Z-2420 processor clocking at 1.2 GHz aided by the PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, three-megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera, 8-16-, and 32GB internal storage flavors, micro SD card slot for expansion, 4,270mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the platform of choice.
Same source seems to speculate on pricing, which could be anywhere between 500-600 BGN — Bulgarian Leva — which translates to $346-$415, and includes a cellular radio variant. May seems to be the timeframe hinted, at least in Bulgaria, and MWC appears to be a certain go as far as unveiling is concerned.
