BlackBerry Z10: First Impressions (Video)

A brand new OS like BlackBerry 10 can be a lot to take in. After our initial encounter with the Z10, we stepped away from the hustle and bustle of the big BB10 unveiling to sit down with the phone and really give the software and hardware a much more thorough examination.

As you’ve probably heard by now, BB10 is all about gesture control, something that becomes painfully obvious when you’re in an app and don’t see any on-screen button to bring you back to the platform’s home screen. Instead, a swipe up from the bottom of the screen triggers that transition, and that’s a gesture you’ll be making quite a bit, as it’s also used to unlock the handset and to check out its Peek notifications. On the flip side, swipes down from the top bring up a convenient menu for changing phone settings.
