Back at the CES, Samsung announced that the ATIV Odyssey Windows Phone 8 handset for Verizon would be coming to the carrier soon, but it didn’t have anything more precise to share than that the phone would be out “in the coming weeks.” That was a week and a half ago, so just when is the phone going to get here? According to a new rumor, the ATIV Odyssey should begin shipping in just one more week, on Thursday, January 24.
This info comes courtesy of very reliable tipster evleaks, who also brought us yesterday’s leaked render of the HTC M7. With no easy way to get an ATIV S in the US (at least not officially through any carrier), the ATIV Odyssey on Verizon will be Samsung’s first Windows Phone 8 offering in the States.
The Odyssey isn’t the 4.8-inch heavyweight the ATIV S is by any stretch, going for a more petite four-inch, non-HD screen, instead. Still, it’s got a zippy 1.5GHz dual-core SoC and runs Microsoft’s latest mobile OS, so if something a little more mid-range is what you’ve been looking for, check out Verizon in a week.
