Earlier this week, we heard that a Samsung model SCH-I425 was getting itself ready for Verizon, and while the available benchmark data only gave us a modest sense of what to expect from the hardware, the model number alone sure made the phone seem like it would be the third entry in the Galaxy Stratosphere family. For fans of hardware keyboards, that was great news. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to have to let you down this time, as now the first imagery of the SCH-I425 has surfaced, and there’s no keyboard to be seen.
This now raises the question of how the SCH-I425, codename Godiva, will be released. It’s not inconceivable that Samsung would continue with the Stratosphere name, repositioning the series as (another) mid-range Android rather than necessarily a model with a keyboard. Then again, the name could give people the wrong impression about the phone, so maybe Samsung would be better off thinking up something altogether different.
So far, we know the SCH-I425 has a 720p display (without on-screen buttons), runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, appears to support NFC, and is on-track for release on Verizon.
