AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean Update Hits WiFi Today

Late last year, we saw Jelly Bean updates start rolling out for Samsung’s Galaxy S III on a number of different carriers. It hit AT&T right at the beginning of December, but at the time the only way to access the update was through Samsung’s Kies software. That’s fine for many of us, but not all Android users are comfortable doing a manual software flash, and not everyone’s a Windows user with access to Kies in the first place. For the rest of us, the time has finally come for an easy OTA update, which will start becoming available today.

The only restriction of which we’re aware is that your GS3 will need to be operating on a WiFi network in order to pull down this update, but that’s a heck of a lot less inconvenient than needing to tether the phone to Kies.

We’re not sure just when today the update is kicking-off, so if you’ve got a Galaxy S III on AT&T and you’re still running ICS, make sure you’re within range of a WiFi network and prompt your handset to check for an update a little later on in the day. We haven’t heard anything about staggered availability, so give it a shot!
