Sony Xperia Tablet Z Hardware Details Leak
Sony announced its Xperia Tablet S (above) all the way back in August, and while we’ve seen the company move on to some higher-end models for its Xperia smartphone lineup, we can’t say the same for its tablets. That’s not to say that there’s anything wrong with its 9.4-inch 1280 x 800 screen or Tegra 3 SoC, but when compared to newer tablets like the Nexus 10, the Xperia Tablet S is definitely starting to show its age. It sounds like Sony could be nearly ready to do something about that by adding some new blood to its tablet offerings, as a new leak attempts to detail what we can expect from the rumored Xperia Tablet Z.
The Z will supposedly move up to a 10.1-inch 1080p display, and drop NVIDIA for a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro. The dust- and water-resistant tablet should pack 2GB of RAM and offer 32GB internal storage. It’s tipped to arrive running Jelly Bean, and may have a 6000mAh battery.
Feature wise, look for NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE support, and a camera setup featuring an 8.1-megapixel main sensor with 2.2-megapixel front-facer. All this should fit in a shell just 6.9 millimeters thick.
Right now, the tablet’s launch is being associated with Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo, but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn more about global launch plans at next month’s MWC.
