T-Mobile Promises Free Wireless Data (With A Few Catches) Through New 4G Connect Service

Cellular-connected tablets are great, but if you’re not careful, that data plan can end up costing you way more than you ever paid for the hardware in the first place. T-Mobile is interested in giving users a little more comfortable of a way to access its network, and by partnering with some device manufacturers, it’s going to start offering some options for completely free cellular data access.
With this new 4G Connect program, when you buy a participating device, you’ll get up to 200MB a month free T-Mobile data, for up to two years after purchase. If you want more than that, or want the service to last for longer, you’ll have to pay up, but for light email usage when you’re away from WiFi, it could be a really nice freebie.
Initially, 4G Connect will be available on select Dell and HP Windows 8 laptops, but you should start seeing it appear on Windows RT tablets later on this year. T-Mobile is interested in signing-up more manufacturers, so there’s no reason this necessarily needs to apply to only Microsoft-running hardware.
