Where’s Windows Phone 7.8? We know that new smartphones have begun shipping with the Windows-8-lite OS already installed, but the situation’s been a little less clear for just when the update will become available for users already owning a WP7 device. So far, the best we’ve been able to wrangle are assurances that the update will launch in “early 2013″. Today we start narrowing-down that window, upon Nokia Spain mentioning plans for the update’s distribution to get underway this month.
In a conversation on its Facebook page, the official Nokia Spain account posts that the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrades are planned for January, but it’s ultimately going to depend on individual operators whether or not they actually arrive before February.
That still leaves things pretty open-ended, but it does leave us hopeful that we could see the first WP7.8 updates start hitting phones sooner, rather than later.
