For the past several months, we’ve been fielding rumors about the Sony Androids under development with codenames Odin and Yuga. They sounded pretty similar, both supposedly sporting 1080p displays, and we’ve recently begun to hear details about how they might arrive, with the Yuga rumored to launch as the Xperia Z. Today we hear a little more about how that phone could make its debut, as well as how Odin fits into the picture.
According to these latest claims, the Odin will go up for sale as the Xperia X. While it and the Yuga/Xperia Z will have slightly different looks, Sony may intend them to be siblings of sorts, with the Xperia Z available in some markets, and the Xperia X in others.
Separately, rumors suggest that the Xperia Z will be featured at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. Almost immediately following the expo, Sony could release the Xperia Z in China; it’s supposed to go up for sale mid-January for what works out to just under $700 off-contract.
There’s no word yet on if the Xperia X could also take the spotlight at the CES, but if the Xperia Z will be there, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the X join it.
