A couple days back we heard Nokia confirm that a software update would be coming soon for its Lumia 920. Besides containing a fix for the 920′s camera problems in well-lit conditions (perhaps a consequence of too much of a focus on low-light shots), we also expected the update to deliver the Windows Phone 8 10211 “Portico” update; that’s the one with the WiFi fix and new SMS features that we showed you in action on the HTC Windows Phone 8X. While we haven’t seen the Lumia 920′s update start heading out OTA just yet, the update has already surface on Nokia’s servers, as revealed through use of Navifirm.
The PR1_1_V3 update brings the Lumia 920 on AT&T up to firmware version 1249 and does indeed contain the Portico update. While it’s possible to manually flash phones now, the update’s presence there suggests it’s nearly ready to go out officially, so a little patience might be your best option here. With any luck, you’ll be snapping some newly-sharpened pics in time for Christmas.
